Dua for Guidance — Surah Al-Fatiha

اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ

Ihdinā al-ṣirāṭa al-mustaqīm

“Guide us to the straight path.”

The most recited dua in Islam — spoken at least 17 times daily. It asks for divine guidance on the straight path, the way of those whom Allah has blessed.

Dua for Knowledge

رَّبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا

Rabbi zidnī ‘ilmā

“My Lord, increase me in knowledge.”

The shortest and most impactful dua for seeking knowledge. Scholars recommend reciting this before studying, reading the Quran, or attending any educational gathering.

Dua for Good in Both Worlds

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbanā ātinā fī al-dunyā ḥasanah wa-fī al-ākhirati ḥasanah wa-qinā ‘adhāba al-nār

“Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”

Anas ibn Malik (RA) reported that the Prophet ﷺ often recited this dua. It is considered one of the most comprehensive duas in the entire Quran.

Dua of Repentance — Surah Al-Baqarah

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Rabbanā ẓalamnā anfusanā wa-in lam taghfir lanā wa-tarḥamnā la-nakūnanna mina al-khāsirīn

“Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.”

The dua of Adam and Hawwa (AS) after they descended to earth — the first act of sincere tawbah (repentance) recorded in the Quran.

Dua of the Righteous (Surah Al-Imran)

رَبَّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَكَفِّرْ عَنَّا سَيِّئَاتِنَا وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ الْأَبْرَارِ

Rabbanā faghfir lanā dhunūbanā wa-kaffir ‘annā sayyi’ātinā wa-tawaffanā ma’a al-abrār

“Our Lord, forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die with the righteous.”

Dua of Ibrahim (AS) for Parents

رَّبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

Rabbi-ghfir lī wa-liwālidayya wa-liman dakhala baytī mu’minan wa-lil-mu’minīna wal-mu’mināt

“My Lord, forgive me, my parents, and whoever enters my house as a believer, and the believing men and women.”

Dua Against Shaytan (Al-A’raf)

رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَن يَحْضُرُونِ

Rabbi a’ūdhu bika min hamazāti al-shayāṭīni wa-a’ūdhu bika rabbi an yaḥḍurūn

“My Lord, I seek refuge with You from the incitements of the devils, and I seek refuge with You, my Lord, lest they be present with me.”

Ayatul Kursi — The Verse of the Throne

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwa al-ḥayyu al-qayyūm

“Allah — there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence.”

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi after every obligatory prayer, nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except death.” (Al-Nasa’i, Al-Silsilah Al-Sahihah 972)
